[ Covens library is a source of much important information... as much as it is to magical experiments gone wrong. Still, this is where the students get to expand their knowledge, but whatever plans Cú had, it gets put away as he spots a familiar redhead on an upper floor.
Switfly, quietly he braves the stairs to join Yona and casually poke at her shoulder. ]
Yo, looking for something? [ He keeps his voice down at least ]
[ She should have felt him approaching. She had absently noticed that hint of good humor and mischief filtering through the bond as he crept upstairs to surprise her, but in her concentration she hadn't realized that she might be the cause.
At least not until a finger pokes her in the back of the shoulder and she jolts a little, her head coming up.
That's when those emotions she can feel take the forefront in her attention and she laughs, her happiness at seeing him rushing back along their shared connection. ]
Maybe I am. But it seems you found what you were looking for. What mischief are you up to, Cú?
Mischief. [ Cú repeats after her with a pretended offense, but his amusement is clear both in his eyes and on their link. The wound left by the lost Bond still hurts (everyone always warned about the pain of severance), but focusing on people present is how he deals with it. ] I am nothing else but noble and bold.
[ That comes with a bark of laughter. ]
I've noticed you've been attending Enchantment classes a lot. [ That's his topic of specialization, although they don't run into each other on every lecture— studying it for a year he's earned a spot in more advanced classes ] Looking for anything in particular?
[ There's an earnest curiosity in how he approaches this question. ]
[ She's surprised when her device pings with a message - she's still not very used to getting those. But as the evening is winding down and she'd been in the study practicing some of the runes she'd been memorizing, a break would be nicely welcome. ]
Yes, I'm home. I'm in the study. Would you like me to meet you somewhere?
In Yona's mailbox, she'll find a relatively small box, containing a flowery hair ornament. While not obvious at first, if she wears it, she'll find that it's enchanted so that flowers occasionally grow in her footsteps.
Also included is a house key, a small bag of fresh baked snacks, and a postcard-sized watercolor of her living room in a warm light, writing on the back in a neat script:
[ Waiting for Yona in the kitchen on the first morning of Modranicht, is a small package wrapped in plain brown paper. Inside is a handmade sign that Tsutha had paid someone to paint, and a note, written in a careful, if clumsy, hand. ]
[There is a package for her to find! Inside are four neatly packed strawberry cupcakes alongside a wrapped giftbox in festive red. Inside is a small music box with a note saying she should always dance to the melody of her own heart.]
[ packed and delivered to yona's residence is a scale-link chain that could be used in a variety of different ways. a necklace, a bracelet, a waist accessory or even a belt. the links themselves, upon closer inspection, have been crafted by pure dragon scale, the colors a distinct hue of black, purple, red and orange, all dependent of how light bounces off it.
there's no name or note attached. just the festive packaging that seems to have been awkwardly decorated by hand. ]
[On the day of the holiday, a plate of homemade cookies and a sample of herbal tea mysteriously appears on her doorstep. The wrapping is decorated with a fresh lily flower (actually a Fae magic product, designed to fade away from existence in a few hours) and a ribbon. The attached handwritten note reads as follows:]
Happy Modranicht! Let’s have another great year here in Aefenglom!
[Karin's gift comes in a small box wrapped in glossy white paper with brilliant red ribbon, and is found resting inside Yona's mailbox on top of a moderately-sized white bakery box. Inside is a bracelet designed to look like sakura blossoms, along with a matching hair ornament. Inside the bakery box are an assortment of spiced cookies— mostly ginger— all of which are generously glazed.]
Yona,
Happy Modranicht! I saw these and thought of you; they reminded me of the cookies we shared not long after my arrival that you said reminded you of home. The cookies I sent are lebkuchen, which are a seasonal favorite where I come from. I hope you enjoy! May the new year bring great things for you.
[Xichen leaves a package carefully wrapped in brightly printed cloth, tied and adorned with a little sprig of mistletoe that he picked up on his trip around the city. He might miss the deeper significance of that, or he just might be giving it to her as a gift to share with a loved one later... who can say? Inside the parcel is another leather-wrapped bundle full of hand-fletched arrows. The feathers he obtained on hunting trips in the Wilde, and he does remember Yona's skill. With the arrows lies a white winter cloak with fur lining the edges. The inside has many hand-embroidered animals hidden in the folds like delicate thread constellations. Pale blue and silver, they can be difficult to spot at times, but that's the fun of it. As well as guessing what creatures they might be. Some are more skillfully made than others... practice makes perfect? The gifts include a simple note:]
I hope you will be able to make use of these. I send them along with warm greetings and thanks for your kindness. Lan Xichen hopes they serve you well.
[ Her delight at hearing his voice is evident even with only her voice coming through the connection, although she quickly turns more serious, not having expected his call. ]
[Even for someone who's never experienced the loss of a bond, the void Ferran feels when he wakes up paints a clear picture. He'd have to be an idiot not to piece it together within a few minutes, frankly.
He'd attempted to contact Tsutha, of course, in the hopes that it was a fluke. That some magical effect had made their bond go cold, rather than the obvious answer. But fate wasn't about to be so kind to him.
Yona should know, if she doesn't already. It would be easier to speak his mind over the watches, but... it feels wrong to attempt it.]
[ She knows. Perhaps she hadn't felt it the way Ferran had, but the unnatural stillness in her cottage this morning and the notable absence of certain belongings had sent her hurrying to check Tsutha's room.
She's been through this before, when Oscar and Chise had both departed for home, too. She's been here long enough to know it happens, but it's a blow all the same.
And the text from Ferran isn't all that surprising either, considering the Bond they'd shared. After reading it, she sends him a quick acknowledgement and moves to her kitchen to start brewing a pot of tea, figuring they'll both need it. ]
